Anyone making a submission via the ACMA website to comment on the applications to renew Community Television (CTV) licences in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, may not have noticed that the link to the email address was incorrect.
It is a simple error that has compromised the integrity of the community consultation phase of the assessment of applications to renew Community Television (CTV) licences in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
The correct address for emails to ACMA regarding Community Television is:
Details of the applications were posted on the ACMA website CTV Renewal page. A link to the ACMA Community broadcasting Group on the top right corner of that page opened a blank email for public submissions. However the email was addressed to "broadcating" instead of broadcasting. The error was picked up by SLICE-TV when sending their own submission. Test emails sent to the incorrect email address have either bounced or simply disappeared.
It is feared that submissions sent in good faith to the wrong address have also vanished. This would make a mockery of the assessment process. SLICE-TV has informed ACMA of their error and the address in the link has been fixed. The deadline for submissions has been extended to 28 October, as demanded by SLICE-TV. If you have sent a submission please check that it was correctly addressed and resend it if necessary.
